What is the PSTET Exam?

PSTET, Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test, is a state-level exam administered by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) to determine candidates' eligibility for positions as Primary (Classes 1–5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6-8) level teachers in the government schools of Punjab. The PSTET 2024 exam is held in two shifts and will consist of two papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2. PSTET Paper 1 is for candidates who wish to teach in grades 1 through 5, whereas PSTET Paper 2 is for those who want to teach in grades 6 through 8. PSTET Educational Qualifications 2024

Primary Teachers (Class I to V)

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 50% or appearing in the final year of a two-year Elementary Education Diploma.

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 45 percent or in the last year of a two-year Elementary Education Diploma program.

• Senior Secondary School (or equivalent) with a minimum of 45 percent or the last year of a four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

• Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with a minimum of 45 percent or the last year of a two-year Education Diploma (Special Education).

• Graduated from high school or are in the last year of a two-year Elementary Education diploma program.

Upper Primary Teachers (Class VI to XII)

• Graduation or completion of a two-year Elementary Education Diploma program.

• Passed or enrolled in a one-year Bachelor of Education program with a minimum of 50% marks (B.Ed).

• Graduation with at least 45 percent marks or passing or enrolling in a one-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) program in line with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations.
