Common Written Examination (CWE) is conducted by IBPS for recruitment to nationalized banks in India to fill vacancies for clerical, probationary officers, specialist officers

Basically bank’s clerk job include direct interaction & dealing with the public.Other functions are :

Handling withdrawal & deposit counters.This is the reason some banks mention clerk as single window operators
Accepting payments, sanction withdrawals, verify cheques,
Issue demand drafts & other banking related services to customers.
Back-office work like receipts collection, ledger maintenance, balance tally

Marketing of financial products of bank such as loans, deposits, schemes to visitors.

To work as a manager in banking in the banking industry, the first stepping stone is becoming a PO. A PO starts as a trainee officer in the Junior Management Grade Scale of the bank & can rise to the highest levels, becoming a General Manager, Executive Director or even the Chairman. Job responsibilities include :

Customer services– To guide clients about the banking facilities and products available to them, like issuing Cheque books, ATM cards, Demand Draft, etc. Customer complaints like discrepancies in accounts
Loan Processing– Before granting the loan to the customer, all the documentation is to be done under his/her supervision.
Bringing business to bank– To promote the various products and schemes that the bank has in offer for its customers.
Supervision of Clerical work

It is not fixed and will depend on the vacancies created by each participating bank in next one year.
