NDA 2019 Overview

NDA 2019 - The Union Public Service Commision (UPSC) has released the official notification for NDA (i) 2019 exam. As per the official notification released, NDA (i) 2019 exam is scheduled to be held on April 21, 2019. The exam will be held for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA for 143rd course in Army and Navy and 105th Naval Academy Course commencing from January 2, 2020.   

The National Defense Academy, formally known as NDA is the Joint Service Academy for the Indian Armed Forces. Cadets of three armed services including Army, Navy and Air Force are trained together in the academy, before moving forward with the pre-commissioning training. NDA is said to be the first tri-service academy in the world. Admissions in the academy are accepted via written examination conducted by UPSC, followed by an extensive interview conducted by SSB. Finally, a medical test to keep a check on the candidate’s overall health and physical fitness.

Around 4, 50,000 applicants sit for the exam every year, among which only 6,300 are called for the interview round. Out of these, only 320 cadets are accepted to the academy, each semester. 70 for Air force, 42 for Navy and 208 cadets for the army.    

NDA 2019 exam paper I is scheduled to be held on April 21. 

NDA 2019 Eligibility

The eligibility of a candidate willing to appear for NDA is evaluated on the basis of four different categories.

As per Nationality:

Apart from Indian origin, candidates from other countries can also appear for NDA 2019. For the same the candidate must either be

An India citizen

A citizen of Bhutan or,

A citizen of Nepal

Tibetan refugees who came over to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to appear for NDA 2019.

An Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India are also eligible to appear for NDA 2019 exam.

Note: The candidate from other countries other than India must possess a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

 

As per Age Limit:

Minimum Age: 16.5 years

Maximum Age: 19.5 years

The date of birth will be calculated as mentioned on the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation.

 

As per Educational Qualification:

Army Wing of National Defence Academy: The Candidates willing to apply for Indian Army must possess a class 12/HSC in 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.

Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy of National Defence Academy: The Candidates willing to apply for Air Force, Navy and Naval Academy must possess a class 12/HSC in 10+2 pattern of School Education with Physics and Mathematics conducted by a State Education Board or a University

 

As per Physical standard:

Candidates willing to appear for NDA 2019 must be physically and mentally fit, according to the prescribed physical standards of the conducting authority i.e. SSB (Services Selection Board). A candidate recommended by the SSB will undergo a medical examination by a Board of Service Medical Officers.

The candidate must possess a good physical and mental health and free from any disease/disability which is likely to interfere with the efficient performance of Military duties. The candidates selected by the authority will be admitted to the academy for further training.

Minimum height required is 157 cm for Army, Navy and Naval Academy while 162.5 cm for Air Force. A leverage of 5 cm is provided to Gorkhas and individuals belonging to hills of North-Eastern regions.

 

Other Factors:

Marital Sex: Candidates must be unmarried in order to appear for the NDA 2019 exam.

Gender: Only male candidates are eligible to apply for NDA 2019.

NDA 2019 Process

Step 1: Fill Application Form

  • At this stage, the candidates will have to fill the application forms to appear for the examination. The forms are available online on the official website.
  • The interested candidates need to visit the official website and fill the application form online for NDA Exam.
  • To apply, the aspirants are required to login on the official website and click on "Apply online" and fill up the form online.
  • While filling up the form candidates has to select the preferred venue.
  • After submission of the form, the online generated Hall ticket is sent to the email ID of the candidate (the email ID provided by the candidate during filling up of the form).

Step 2: Download NDA Admit Cards

  • The NDA exam 2019 admit cards will be made available on the official website for downloads. The candidates will need their guardian’s email address and the student’s full name in order to download the admit card.
  • NDA exam admit card is an important document having variety of information. We advise to preserve the admit cards until the admission process is successfully conducted.

Step 3: Appear for NDA Exam 2019 

  • Students need to appear for NDA exam 2019 exam as per the schedule mentioned in the important date’s section.
  • Aspirants are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour before the commencement of the exam.

Step 4: Check NDA 2019 Result

The conducting body would be declaring the results for NDA Exam 2019 on their official website. The candidates shall check their NDA exam 2019 results once announced, by simply submitting their application number and date of birth on the official website.

NDA 2019 Application Form

Candidates can access the NDA Application Form 2019 through online process only through the official link. No other mode will be available for the application form.

  • The NDA 2019 application form will be available in the month of February 2019. Applicants are required to upload the scanned images of photograph and signature in the application form.
  • There is no need to send the hard copies of the application form to the authority.

NDA 2019 Pattern

The two stage selection process is listed below:

Stage 1: Written Exam

Stage 2: Intelligence and Personality Test

Stage 1: Written Exam:  The written exam will take place in two papers: Mathematics (01) and General Ability (02). Mathematics will consist of algebra, matrices and determinants, trigonometry, analytical geometry of two and three dimensions, different calculus, integral calculus and differential equations, vector algebra and statistics and probability. Whereas, General Ability is bifurcated into two parts: Part A (English) and Part B (GK). The candidates will get a duration of two and a half hour each for both the papers, wherein Mathematics will carry 300 marks and General Ability will carry 600 marks.

NDA 2019 Admit Card

UPSC is responsible for the release of NDA admit cards. UPSC has released NDA NA II admit cards. The admit cards are available online on the official website of UPSC. Only those candidates who qualify the eligibility criteria to appear for NDA will receive the admit cards.

How to download NDA NA II admit cards?

As released, an official notification will be displayed on the official website. The candidates need to stay updated with all the official notification released on the website.

NDA 2019 Answer Key

The answer keys for NDA will be released by UPSC after the successful conduct of the written examination. NDA results will be released basis the final answer keys released by the authority. Candidates can evaluate their performance in written test basis the NDA answer keys released.

Answer keys help the candidates to evaluate their performance before the actual results are declared. NDA answer keys are released for all the 4 sets of the question paper. Candidates can take a look at the answer keys and check how much they have scored before the results are declared. 

NDA 2019 Cut-Off

NDA 2019 Results

Union Public Service Commission announces NDA Result 2019 will be available on the following official website - upsc.gov.in. The result of NDA 2019 is published one by one for the written exam, the final result after SSB. 

UPSC NDA 1 Final Result 2019 is generally announced in the month of November for admission to Army, Navy and Air Force wings of National Defence Academy for the 139th Course and Naval Academy for the 101st Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commence from the month of January. 

NDA 2019 Counselling

The selection process for NDA in a two stage process. Stage 1 is the written examination and Stage 2 is the SSB Interview. Candidates are evaluated basis their performance in written test and SSB round which includes PI and Medical. NDA selection stages are a total of 900 marks.

After the declaration of written exam results, candidates will have to get themselves registered for the interview round within 2 weeks. Allotment of selection centers and dates will then be notified on the registered email ID.

NDA 2019 Preparation Tips & Guide

It is necessary for an NDA aspirants to plan and strategize their preparation for the exam. It is recommended for a candidates to focus on key areas in which they have a stronger hold than the rest.

  • The distribution of question in the paper will be easy to moderate to difficult. Lacking a balanced prep strategy will end you up attempting the difficult questions. This will eventually drag your score down.
  • Never commence with an exam prep with the motive to complete the syllabus. This is not your in-house school examination where ratification will help you score well. Your objective while preparing should be to gain knowledge.

  • Solve previous year papers and PYPs for better understanding of the exam pattern. Categorizing your questions is also very important. The first 30 minutes of the allotted time should be utilized in categorizing the questions from easy to moderate to difficult ones to be attempted later.
  • Questions from Indian History, Geography, current affairs and Vocabulary are memory based questions. 3o questions will be from antonyms-synonyms and fill the blank spaces which is the easiest section. Three questions will comprise of 280 to 300 marks out of the total 900 marks.
  • Almost 1/3rd of the NDA question paper comprises memory based questions.

NDA 2019 News

UPSC has released NDA NA II admit card for candidates who succcessfully registered to appear for the exam and also meet the minimum eligibility criteria. Candidates can download their NDA NA II admit cards till September 9, 2018.

The NDA NA II 2018 examination has now concluded successfully. As many as 13,000 candidates appeared in the National Defense Academy (NDA) examination organised by the UPSC at 36 centres across Chandigarh.
